Today was Ruby's last day of her beginning obedience class. She threw up a little bit, once, when we were in Woodinville on our way there. She didn't throw up on the way home. Yay! She's improved! She didn't even poop this time.

I'm feeling like whatever I do it's wrong. At least, that's how my mom is making me feel right now. I picked out some Healthy Choice TV dinners when my dad and I were at Fred Meyer's that looked yummy. I was in charge of fixing dinner. I let it sit a bit too long to cool down, so everybody was complaining that it was cold. Then my mom complained about how bland the vegetables were. And she wonders why nobody else ever willingly fixes dinner!?
I picked up a 3 pack of bully sticks at PetCo earlier this evening for my puppy Ruby. They're great for Ruby because they keep her really occupied and quiet while she works on them, and they last her quite a while. As I went into the living room Spencer, my brother's ACD/Blue Heeler, was busy chewing away on one of the bully sticks! We were having a bit of a standoff trying to get him to release the bully stick. Then my mom complained about the bully sticks, because one of her co-workers champion Corgi's broke a tooth while chewing a bully stick. When I told her that I was only going to be giving Ruby the bully sticks while she's a puppy, and that Ruby was currently chewing on a bully stick instead of chewing on the coffee table she came back with a 'there's no difference' or something of that nature. The gist of it being, that she thinks that as soon as Ruby is finished with her bully stick, she'll go right back to chewing on the coffee table.

I started the regular ballet class that I'm going to take today. It's ballet 3/4. I'm also signed up for the pointe class, but I'm not quite in shape enough for that. So I only took the one class tonight. I'm hoping to take both the ballet and pointe classes next week. I'll just have to see how I'm doing.

Bah, I can't think of anything to write about at this moment.

Oh, a classmate and the WAN instructor finally helped me to start to figure out subnetting.

Another day with a headache. I've had a headache since around 3pm today. I took an Excedrin Migraine, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Today was a lazy day. I didn't really do anything at home. I watched some stuff that I'd recorded on the DVR and deleted the stuff.

I've started looking more at the job websites. I think I'm going to revamp my resume a bit, or at least do a second/third resume that's revamped. I'm thinking I'll do a resume that shows past paid and volunteer positions from most recent going back, instead of separating them.

It looks like Ruby is going to need surgery. Poor baby girl. Ruby's turning into an expensive little puppy. Hopefully, this will be the only expensive medical thing she'll ever need.

My brother is very thankful to me. I was rinsing off the icky towel and toy that Ruby got urpy and poopy on from Sunday, and afterwards was using the blue bags to pick up the poop, I got into a clean the yard kick and picked up about 10-13 bags of poop. Most of it was from my brother's dog. It's an icky task, but somebody has to do it, and at least the bag protects my hand from getting dirty.

I finally put a picture up for my Twitter account. I tried to put the same one up that I use for this account, but it didn't work very well. Twitter prefers the pictures to be more square than rectangular/tall.

I was chatting with my friend, Kari, earlier. I miss her, haven't seen her in such a long time.

I studied for about 40 minutes for my PC Tech II class, for this evening. I wish I had more time to study for the test for this evening. I pray that my powers of retention for my memory works awesome. Otherwise I don't think that I will do very well on this first test. But the rest of the tests should make up for it, I hope.

School Stuff:
Missing a day of class sucks! I'm totally confused when it comes to my Network Server Admin class. All because I missed one class last week. Starting to feel a little bit like crying. I really just want to reload Windows Server 2008 using the 64bit version on the virtualbox.
I can't remember what the rule of thumb for studying for classes is. Is it study 1 hour for every hour you're in class? Study 1.5 hours for every hour you're in class? Or study 2 hours for every hour that you're in class? Depending on which it is that would mean I need to study anywhere from 15 hours a week to 30 hours a week. Or 2.5 hours per class to 5 hours per class. 5 hours per class sounds quite overwhelming.

I need another part-time job. I called my work today, and was informed that it's pretty darn slow, and he's hoping/expecting it to pick up in the spring. That would mean I'd be going 5-6 months without any income! That doesn't really work for me at this point in time. I have too many bills and too little savings for that to work. So I'm back on job hunt mode. Oh joy.

Today was lesson #3 for Ruby. Ruby and I need to practice our exercises more often, and I need to get a whistle, or find a whistle. Next week Ruby's going to get sized for a Premier Collar. This morning I couldn't find Ruby's main collar. I ended up using the collar that she wore the day I adopted her, but it is a bit tight. Ruby improved a bit today. She didn't throw up during the ride home from Woodinville!
Today we worked on getting our dogs to be comfortable laying down and rolling over in order to be examined all over their bodies, retrieving using food and talked about toy retrieval, getting our dong on our left side, the four step correction, having the dog go to its rug, and teaching the dog to sit in front of you. Next week we all get little graduation certificates because all of our dogs learned at least one thing.

I spent about an hour studying for school today. So that's always a good thing. I might spend another 20 minutes reading from my textbook before finally heading for bed.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Another lazy day. Although I did get some studying done. I'm currently debating with whether I want to get ready and go to the Young Adults Kick Off potluck thing.

1st Ballet Class of 2010!

I am going to be sore tomorrow. I jumped in and took a 2 hour ballet class this evening. My body was frustrating me. It was all steps that I knew how to do, and had done before, but my feet/body just wouldn't do them correctly. I blame my infrequent ballet classes over the past year and a half.

Thursday, January 21, 2010

I lost my glasses. So I finally had to use my contacts. After I put my contacts in, I finally found my glasses. They were in the pocket of my blue hoody. I discovered them there as I got dressed. So I only wore my contacts for about an hour. When I got to class I promptly took my contacts out and put my glasses on.

Diane is back teaching CS162.

Sick Day 2

Well, I was going to go to school today, but I was feeling too dizzy/light-headed to safely drive. My dad felt too sick to drive me to school, so I was stuck at home.

Sick Day

Well, today I'm staying home from school. I probably should have stayed home from school on Thursday. I am using it as a sick day, or a day to help recover from being sick. I can't remember the last time I missed a day of school. Maybe September 2006? It's been quite a long time since I missed a class due to being sick. I slept until about 11am, I vaguely remember my alarm going off at 6am. After I had breakfast I went back to sleep. I didn't wake up until 2:38pm, when my dad called my cell phone. When I finally got out of bed I was feeling dizzy/light-headed, again! So I've spent the majority of my waking afternoon hours being dizzy/light-headed both yesterday and today. Oh joy.

I've been going through the Windows Movie Maker help contents. Trying to figure out how to make and edit my own videos.

Monday, January 18, 2010

I've been feeling dizzy/light-headed all afternoon. I don't know why. My mom suggested that it might be related to my cold. I hope I feel better tomorrow. It makes for fun driving times.

Ruby's 2nd Day of School!

Well, today was Ruby's second day of beginning obedience school. Sadly, we were a little bit late, but, as I always say, better late than never! We worked on beginning scent work, come/recall, and at the very end of class we practiced getting the dogs to wait at the door for the release word. (As in, the dog doesn't get to dart out the door without you.)

I gave her Dramamine about 45 minutes before we headed down to Woodinville. I guess it helped a little bit. She pooped twice on the way down, and threw up at least once on the way down. At least this time I had lots of baby wipes ready to help clean Ruby up, and a set of towels to place in her crate for the ride home. She almost made it all the way home with out getting sick! I got to the gate, opened the gate, and as I got back into the van to drive into the yard I could hear Ruby start getting sick. At least it was quite an improvement over last time. But I do really need to start working on getting her more comfortable with cars, as in being in the car.

I now need to wash Ruby's crate pad, 3 pairs of jeans, and 3 sweaters.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

I spent this afternoon with my mom and grandmother. My grandmother's dog had gotten into things she shouldn't have and she had to take her to a specialist in Lynnwood. Last week, Peggy, my grandmother's miniature schnauzer ate up the cables to my grandparents Directv. She went to the vet today and the x-rays showed that she did still have wire in her stomach. The vets were worried about there being copper wire in her stomach. Thankfully, there wasn't, and the specialists were able to get all of the extra stuff in her stomach.

Friday, January 15, 2010

I lost the fight against the cold. Yesterday afternoon I was feeling worse and worse. This morning I woke up with the full blown cold. Head felt like it was being squeezed, nose was a bit stuffy, throat hurts. I spent most of the day in bed with my puppy.

Thursday, January 14, 2010

I'm very thankful to God that Katie survived the earthquake in Haiti. She's in a hospital in Florida now, with her family.

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I've been exhausted this week.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Lazy Days

So far this week I've been pretty lazy. I know, I know, it's only two days into the week, but so far I have really slept in both yesterday and today. I should start going to sleep before 2am! That's part of my problem. Tonight I'm going to try and get ready for bed around 11pm, instead of after 1am.

Monday, January 11, 2010

It's looking like Monday's, Thursday's, and Sunday's are going to be my lazy days for 'fashion'. If I start getting up earlier on Monday's, I'll have time to spend on choosing what to wear and do makeup.

Ruby's 1st Day of School

Well, today was Ruby and my first day of training school. I gave her an anti-anxiety/travel anxiety supplement about half an hour before heading down to class. It didn't appear to work at all, though. She refused to take the pill before we headed home. Poor baby got sick several times, and pooped in her crate on the way down. I wish I'd brought a couple of towels, or a roll of paper towels. She did alright in class. We probably would have done better if I'd been more prepared for her getting so sick. I now have baby wipes! She did fine with 'sit' but we're struggling on the 'down' command. I get her to sit, and then I do what everyone says to get her to lie down, but she pops back up from her sit, and just lowers her head or, at most, her front legs. I can't seem to get her to lower her bottom and her front at the same time.

I plan on practicing 'sit' and especially 'down' with her this week. I also really plan on working with her on getting acclimated to being in the vehicle. Step 1, get her to get in the vehicle on her own (with coaxing using treats)!

After we got home she got a much needed bath, poor thing. Her crate pad, giraffe, and long chew rope all went through the washing machine. My dad sprayed/rinsed out her crate, and I washed the rest of her crate.

Al's Memorial

My parents and I went to Al's Memorial service today. Learned a bunch about him, like that he original went to bible college to be a minister. Although, that makes me feel a bit better, that he does rest in peace in Heaven. Heard some stories about Al. I wish I'd had the chance to hear more stories. My mom thinks that Al may have been the IBM guy @ the PUD back in the day.

Girly Stuff:
I think I'm going to modify how I do this part just a bit. I'll start with putting a list of the makeup used, then how I applied it.
Clinique powder
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Oil of Olay eyeshadow
Ulta eyeshadow
Stila
Benefit Get Bent Lash mascara
MAC
Clinique

Cleaning/Organizing:
I spent about 40 (concentrated) minutes on cleaning/organizing my bathroom. Probably spent about another 20 minutes off and on doing little things in the bathroom. Sadly, you can't really tell. But I did get rid of a lot of empty bottles from the bathroom. My goal is to get the 2 center drawers cleaned and organized for ease of use and finding things. I'm sick and tired of spending all my time looking for specific makeup items. I also want to clean/organize my desk in my bedroom so that it's partially usable for school/desk type items and partially usable as a makeup vanity. Wish me luck!

Friday, January 8, 2010

I got my hair permed again today. It's been 6.5 months since the last time I got it permed.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Volunteered at the Everett Animal Shelter today. They actually had kittens, and several puppies. There was a ram brought in, too!

School Stuff:
I'm scared about how Al's death is going to affect my journey to earning a 2 year degree.

Darn, some of the stuff I just bought at Macy's at the Benefit counter are now on sale.

Girly Stuff:
For today's makeup look I used my Clinique powder, Urban Decay Primer Potion, and Benefit's 'Get Bent Lash' mascara. On my eyes I used the Stila 'Smoky Eye The Talking Palette' which is more of a warm/neutral smoky eye. So that is what I did, used the light base color as a base all over my eyelid, the tan lid color on my lid, the crease color on the outer third of my eyelid, and the liner color as eyeliner and in my crease. On my cheeks I used Clinique... On my lips I used my Clinique Moisture Surge Lipstick in SPF 15 in 'Sweetness' and Clinique lipgloss in 'Sweet Dream'

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

I think I kind of forgot how hard it can be trying to pick out an outfit when you've just purchased a bunch of new clothes.

Girly things:
Yay, I discovered that my MAC eyeshadow duo and beauty powder are both eligible for Back 2 MAC!
Okay, for my makeup for today I started with my Clinique face powder, then used the Urban Decay Primer Potion on my eyes. For eyeshadow I used my MAC Eye Shadow Suite in 'Shallow V. Deep' and put the lighter color on my lid and the darker color in my crease. I also used the darker color to line my eyes. I lined my lower water line with my new Stila Kajal Eye Liner in 'Emerald'. For my mascara I used Benefit's 'Get Bent Lash'. On my cheeks I used MAC's Beauty Powder in 'Summer Rose' from the 'A Rose Romance' collection. Finally, on my lips I used CoverGirl 'Outlast All-day Lipcolor' in Always Rosy.

I wore my new black slacks and black & white plaid wool coat, both from Banana Republic. I also wore a new teal short-sleeved sweater that I got at JCPenney's. I earned some compliments, so I think it turned out well.

1st Day of the Quarter

Today's the first day of winter quarter. Monday's and Wednesday's are my short days. I'm only in class from 4pm-6:30pm. Sadly, I was late to class today. Oh well, I'll do better next time.

I was thinking of little topics or subtopics that I'd do on my blog. Thinking that I'll do girly stuff/makeup/fashion, dance, puppy antics, school, and I'm sure I'll come up with more as I go along.

Ruby's Antics:
We found one of the cookies that she'd gotten into yesterday. Apparently it was under our smaller fridge. I guess while I was in Bellevue Ruby managed to get into a box of chocolate cake mix. It appears that she threw it up by the time I got home, though.

New Wardrobe for a New Year/Decade!

This morning, after getting up, I cleaned out a sample pot of lotion, and went to work 'depotting' my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. The hardest part was cutting through the plastic of the bottle, took a while to cut through. I was amazed at how much was still left in the bottle! The bottle had to be no more than one quarter empty. I used the wand that came with the Primer Potion to scoop the primer out of the bottle and put it in my clear little pot. Then I cleaned the empty pieces of bottle and put them in the recycle bin.

This morning I didn't put any makeup on before going to church. I didn't have time, and I figured I'd give my face a sabbath from makeup. When we stopped off at home we discovered that my puppy, Ruby, had gotten onto the kitchen table and had finished off about half a dozen frosted sugar cookies. She was caught 'green-nosed' with the green frosting still on the top of her nose. It was quite cute and funny. I really wanted to go shopping, because I hadn't been shopping shopping in over a year.

My mom and I went to Alderwood Mall, and spent the whole afternoon there. First we hit up the sale at Victoria's Secret. I got 6 new bras on sale and 5 pairs of underwear. We then hit up Bath & Body Works and picked up a bunch of new hand soaps, a bottle of lotion, and a new loofah. We did our big purchases at Macy's and Banana Republic. And stopped at Sephora to pick up a Stila Kajal Eye Liner in Emerald.

The only thing that I really wanted at Macy's was a Clinique face mask. I ended up wandering over to the Benefit counter and the lady working the counter started talking to me. She ended up doing my makeup. So I ended up wearing makeup for half of the day. She used 'You're Bluffing!' on my blemishes, 'Play Sticks in Tea Party' for my foundation, 'The Big Beautiful Eyes' palette for my eye shadow and liner, 'BADgal Plum Mascara' for my lashes, 'Speed Brow' for my eyebrows, 'High Brow' for my brow highlight, 'Coralista' for my blush, and a lip gloss (forgot what color). I ended up getting 'powderflage', 'you're bluffing!', and 'play sticks in tea party', while my mom got 'Benetint', 'Benetint Pocket Pal', and 'Full-Finish Lipstick in Flirt Alert'. I did eventually get a Clinique face mask before leaving Macy's.

We stopped at Gap, but we just got confused by the weird jean sizing, and put off by the lack of customer service. We then went over to Banana Republic. We got a lot of awesome customer service there. Along with a lot of new clothes! We've never spent that much in one shopping trip before! It was insane, but fun.

Looking forward to starting this new year with a new outlook, wardrobe, and look.

Sad News

I was flipping through yesterday's newspaper and came upon some horrible news. Al Moser, my Computer Information Systems Advisor and teacher died on Thursday! I started crying like I haven't cried in the longest of time. This would have to be some of the worst news I've heard in a long time. He was so helpful. Who's going to advise us now? What are we going to do now. I guess I'll find out on Tuesday who will be substituting for his CS 122/222 classes.

Girly Stuff:
Makeup wise, I just redid what I did yesterday. But instead of using lipstick, I used Victoria's Secret 'sweet talk' Strawberry Shimmer lip gloss.

Welcome to 2010!

Well, 2009 is over and done with. Yay for that. I got my AmStaff puppy and a part-time job in 2009, so that was good. I think I'm going to start posting some of my girly stuff, like makeup and other things of that nature.

I wore makeup for this first day of 2010. Nothing too crazy. I also went to a model train show with my dad in Tacoma at the Washington State History Museum. We were going to go to Sakura's for lunch afterwards, but they were closed today. Sad Amanda.

So, some of my plans/goals for 2010:
Wear makeup more often.
Wear contacts more often.
Spend at least 20 minutes a day reading school stuff.
Spend at least 20 minutes a day working on cleaning my room and/or bathroom.
Start taking ballet on Friday's.

Girly Stuff for 1/1/10:
After washing up and putting on my moisturizer I used Clinique 'stay-matte sheer pressed powder oil-free' in 01 Stay Buff for my powder. Then I used Urban Decay Primer Potion on my eyes. For eye shadow I used a Clinique Eye Quad containing 'Beige Shimmer' (Beige/tan soft shimmer), 'Buttermilk' (Off white velvet), 'Bewitched' (Deep brown velvet), and 'Frosted Blossom' (light pink soft shimmer). I used Frosted Blossom as the base, Beige Shimmer on the outer third of my eye lid, Bewitched in my crease and along my bottom lash line, and I used Buttermilk as the brow highlighter. For my mascara I used Benefit's 'Get Bent Lash'. On my cheeks I used Clinique's 'sheer powder blusher' in 05 Plum Fabulous. Finally, on my lips I used CoverGirl 'Outlast All-day Lipcolor' in Always Rosy.

I shall try and take a picture this evening and post it tomorrow. (Warning, this is after wearing the look all day long, and I have oily skin, so it won't look 100% like it did at the beginning of the day.)

Well, I think that's all for this evening. I'll be posting more tomorrow.
